Mosaik is a Street artist born in Lisbon and is one of the graffiti pioneers in Portugal. Nowadays He is involved with many projects, from urban decorations to collaborations with shoe or clothing brands, like this one for Vans or for B.Side, as example.

It´s the 10th day of the project...
it´s 4:30AM (again)....
I´ve just finished pair nº 40...
I am exhausted and i need to rest...
its time to take a couple of days off to breathe and get some inspiration...
so tomorrow I´ll travel up to Lisbon to see TOOL (www.toolband.com) live concert with Lars (www.lj77.com)
and check out the "VISUAL STREET PERFORMANCE" Street-Art exhibition at Bairro Alto (Lisbon).

7th Day...

Alrighty, then ... it´s time to
show you at least one pair of shoes ready...


but before you ask for more, picture this if you will.
i Began this project 8 days ago at 2 AM, and

since then i have been closed here, contemplating the sunset
from my studio window and posting for this photoblog under
a late moon, then crash in my bed just to opened up my bug-eyes
a couple of hour after, and start the creative cycle again, in
a compulsive way...

yes, i am tired, but i feel so alive in this way, i just wish
my hands could be as fast as i imagine each pair of shoes in my
mind, like an apparition,

from time to time, i feed myself while i calm down with some
orange slices, Chocolate cake, and fresh mint tea.

and as i see the first pair of shoes waiting ready for the last ones
still inside the boxes (still is white canvas),i start to wonder...
who will be wearing those shoes?? who are the
"chosen people", and what kind of, in all the multitudes of people,
will be owning one pair of them??

There is no limit when choosing the medium; aerosol, markers, pencils, watercolors, tea, etc... The real hard trick is to be lucky on choosing the colors... And how to combine them in the shoes with stencil, hand-drawing, sewing, etc...

invited by VANS Portugal, I was challenged to customized a line of 65 pairs of VANS slip-on model. This is a diary of this project. in this photoblog you can follow all details from this one-of-a-kind shoes, and in the end some of you will have them on your own feet, as they will be out soon...
